As bishops, we do indeed live with the public/private divide every day. But to help us do so well and wisely, the reading from 2nd Corinthians and the Gospel of Matthew present two vices for us to avoid and two virtues for us to embrace.Read More

Welcome to the Archdiocese of Baltimore
God calls the Catholics of the Archdiocese of Baltimore to be a welcoming, worshipping community of faith, hope, and love. Through his Spirit, the Lord Jesus lives in those who believe, and reaches into our world with his saving message and healing love.
On Sunday, Father Evan Ponton welcomed the parishioners of a newly unified parish — St. Vincent de Paul Church and Saint Leo's Catholic Church — as their new pastor. He said being called to serve the harbor at two historic churches makes him “feel like the luckiest priest in the world.”
“My name is Father Evan Ponton. I’m here to love God, to be your shepherd and to love you, and to make disciples.
“Over the last two months or so, I’ve been asked many times to share my vision for our new parish. But I believe before we can see a vision, we must first unsee fear.”
A gun buyback event will be held on Saturday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Westside Shopping Center in Southwest Baltimore. The no-questions-asked program aims to improve safety by offering cash for firearms and will run while funds last. The Catholic community has previously raised over $100,000 to remove 646 guns and aid families of homicide victims.
